I used Llandovery as a base to mostly go out driving around the Brecon Beacons and mid Wales countryside. There would be plenty to do for outdoorsy people, beautiful scenery and plenty of places to walk.
Interesting town and beautiful setting. The castle was fun to tour, loved the marketplace, and all the fun restaurants. We ate at the Stones (excellent) and the Tiniest Pub in Wales (good) Loved our B & B Victoria House. Everything about it was excellent!
Lovely coastal town in friendly, quaint Wales. The walk along the beach promenade to the point with the old castle ruins is relaxing and amazing at the same time. The Marine hotel was very comfortable, reasonable, and the food was above average. Highly recommend this town for a quiet and relaxing getaway.
The hotel was a great and the rooms was really clean and lovely , John and Ricky were good hosts and John was really welcoming when my and husband got to nothing was to much for him the view from the room was fantastic and the view of the lake at was good next time we go to Wales I would stay here again if could say if there was a number from 1 to 10, I would rate at 10 out 10 thank John and Ricky for a lovely weekend from mick and Sandra Jones. Getting around tal-y-llyn was easy .
Set in beautiful scenery, Porthmadog is a great place to explore the mountains and beaches of that part of Wales. The town itself provides for all needs though eating at night is restricted and not great. Plenty of attractions for kids within driving distance, but don't go without a car.
Aber has a variety of things to do. Some good restaurants and shops. Lovely sea views and stunning sunsets. A great base for exploring mid Wales.
Seems to have everything for every age group and is close to all of north Wales beauty, victim of its own success as stuffed to the gills with tourists at peak times.
Builth is approximately the geographical centre of Wales, which means that one can have many "one-day" expeditions by car to interesting places. We visited Aberystwyth and rode on the Vale of Rheidol steam train; the Elan Valley reservoirs and enjoyed a long walk by the water; had lunch in Bishop's Castle in Shropshire, and drove miles through the beautiful Welsh hills. Builth is a small village/town on the River Wye. It has a limited selection of restaurants, but there are several in the near countryside.
Llandudno is nice and laid back, but I can,t understand why there are more places to eat in the immediate town centre. But I won,t use any other location in North Wales to tour Snowdonia as a lone traveler that is
If you wish to explore Snowdonia, Harlech is the perfect spot to drive out from and then come back to to enjoy sunset over the Irish Sea. It doesn't suffer from too many visitors and yet has everything one needs on a vacation in Northern Wales. Close to Mt. Snowdon and on the coast with beaches.
We had a fantastic stay at the Crown Hotel. It's a historic and charming place, the rooms were warm and super clean, and the beds were super comfy. One of our bookings was the Studio Apartment and I was pleasantly surprised at how big both the rooms were and that they both had ensuites. Breakfast was nice and the staff are all very lovely and welcoming. Corwen itself is small and quiet but there are a few restaurant options for dinner and a lovely Estate and farm shop very nearby. Will definitely stay here again when visiting North Wales!
Cardigan
Travelling through South Wales so only stayed one night but would return and recommend. Hotel is exceptionally beautiful, what a treat to find this place. Our room was stunning and I could have lived in the spacious bathroom! The bed was so comfortable. Everything was clean and fresh. The view amazing, overlooking the gardens. Beautifully prepared breakfast and locally sourced food in the dining room listening to relaxing music. A perfect base to visit Cardigan and some of the amazing beaches which are unspoiled.
Absolutly lovely stay at the Marine Hotel, would recommend to anyone! Perfect location right on the sea front, beautiful views. The staff are friendly, professional and so helpful, they even decorated our room for our anniversary! The rooms are to a high standar d and would definitely reccomend going for the sea view. The food was lovely too and the breakfast outstanding, possibly the best croissants I had in Wales 😍 Would definitely come back next time we are in north Wales ❤️
The location is great. We were at the front of the hotel overlooking the Bull Inn, which was very noisy but it was a holiday and the weather was amazingly warm so there were lots of people there. The hotel and staff were great. Our only disappointment was with the breakfast. The Spanish influence ruined the food and they should offer local produce to enhance the stay as we were in Wales after all. If the breakfast had been more traditional we would have rated our stay perfect.
Saundersfoot
A real gem. We were touring Wales for several weeks and stayed in 7 different Guesthouses/Hotels. Woodlands was our #1. Sue & Dave very obviously enjoy operating their business. Home tastefully decorated, clean, comfortable. The Breakfast options were numerous and excellently prepared . Parking in front was a bonus as was the lovely garden and the guest lounge containing an abundance of well presented information on the attractions in the area.
Aberaeron
Excellent location, free parking lot across the street. Our room was compact but had everything we could need and more including the smallest fridge I’ve ever seen! The Alexa speaker was a great addition. The bed was comfortable, Wi-fi great and the breakfast is amazing. Staff very friendly & helpful. My husband and I were travelling in Wales and stayed in 7 different Guest Houses/Hotels. The Arosfa was one of our best choices.
atmosphere in the hotel excellent, staff wonderful, rooms spotless and great value. Friendly, fun, warm welcome. Breakfast superb, lunches great and good value too. Great local beers and of course the usual favourites. Loved the biker themed decor and the whole ethos of the place. cant wait to go back again. If you,re a biker and want to base yourself somewhere while you explore Wales this place is def worth a stopover visit
Brecon
The Hotel was located in a perfect location in Brecon. As well as being a Beautiful Hotel with great rooms and brilliant staff, the food and drink were also amazing. I had been traveling around Wales for 2 weeks prior to arriving in Brecon and my final day was spent walking from Brecon to Merthyr via Pen Y Fan. The Wellington was a perfect Hotel to spend my last night on The Road in at the end of a long trip.
Beaumaris
Location was perfect for exploring North Wales. We were only 30 minutes from the base of Snowdon and the surrounding areas. The area where the apartment was, had various restaurants, bars, cafe's and the best bakery. Everything you needed was on your doorstep. The host Fergal was very informative and great recommendations for things in the area. Apartment had everything needed for our short stay.
Air conditioned hotel was a perfect location for our short golf trip. Breakfast was delicious as were the evening light bites. Pool and spa were excellent and clean. Staff were fantastic, everyone we spoke to were helpful and happy in their work! Lovely fox appeared at night as well 😁❤️ Will definitely be looking to book another weekend trip and sample some more of the South Wales hospitality.
The Teifi Waterside Hotel was a special piece of luck. Western Wales was our plan, no idea where to go. Cardigan, cute town, coastal vistas. The Waterfront Hotel has a spectacular location, amazing views. Impressive (large) rooms, good bar/restaurant and easy onsite parking. Walked in, loved it, booked extra night. Staff were great, good service & local knowledge.
location location location! a superb view from our comfortable room with a fabulous view of the sea. nice pub in house with lovely breakfast and dinner at the property. Great location to travel out within an hour great sightseeing. not a fancy hotel but very nice and more than adequate. plenty of parking and nice to walk and take in the beauty of the North Wales Coast.
Conwy
An amazing hotel with excellent hosts. Graham and Delyth could not have been more accommodating and Charlie was a cutie! The room was large, well appointed and beautifully decorated. The views from our room were stunning. The breakfast were very generous and a sumptuous delight. Whenever we return to North Wales we will be staying at the Y Llew Coch hotel for sure!
Rhayader
We are a group of motorcycling friends who love touring on Wales. This was our forth year we have used Delfryn Cottage.is very well suited for touring, facilities are good safe parking off road for our Bikes. We eat our evening meals at the Elan Hotel in the evenings. Excellent place to stay. Would definitely recommend it.
Very quaint hotel. Had a very nice rustic charm. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful. The bar area was very charming. This hotel is the perfect way to experience southwestern Wales. There are a lot of shops and restaurants/pubs within walking distance, and a short drive to Marloe Sands beach, which is beautiful!
the Hotel had only been open for a matter of weeks and there where still small signs of development works going on, the staff could not of been more helpful. They where friendly and helpful. We will be very much looking forward to going back.I wish them all the best for the future. regards Graeme Morgan from Mid Wales
Location and surreal Italian village located in beautiful and picturesque Wales was odd but stunningly well done. We stayed in the "Dome" which had a huge room and bathroom. We didn't use the swimming Pool down by the Hotel but did have the 7 meal taster menu which was superb overlooking the estuary.
Llangollen
A very nice cottage in a peaceful setting. Ideally placed to explore North Wales. The Britannia pub is a short walk away as is the Chainbridge Hotel. Both good for food. We really enjoyed our stay and I can recommend it for a short break away. Good value and lovely hosts. Thank you. Best regards. Clive
We loved the fact that it was an easy walk into town and parking at the hotel was more than adequate. We also were very pleased with the breakfast and the pub food. The breakfast was excellent and so elegant. The food at the pub was the best we had in England and Wales.
Saundersfoot
Competed at Ironman Wales, so only 2.5 miles away from startline in Tenby, 10min drive. ( Hotel located on the famous bike climb of Saundersfoot ) staff very welcoming. Liked the family home feeling of the hotel, would definitely go back.. Excellent shower!..😁
