Room satisfactory, balcony a little disappointing - it seemed more of a broad walk and a little tatty.
Breakfast on the first morning - chaotic. Lack of cups, juice, croissants, staff. We made the hotel aware of this.
Not much better on second day - we asked for a pot of tea which we had been provided with the day before and was told tea bags were available and you 'made your own'.
Perched on the rugged cliffs of St Austell Bay, The Carlyon Bay Hotel features a luxury spa, award-winning restaurant and a golf course. The hotel has panoramic views and 4-star bedrooms.
From our country house hotel by the sea, the only thing we overlook is the bay. Our spectacular clifftop location offers a 180 degree sea view over Carlyon Bay.
Just seconds from the seafront, Rashleigh Arms is situated in the pretty fishing village of Charlestown. With wonderful views and free parking, there is also an on-site restaurant.

It is an ideal location to travel around Cornwall either by car or public transport. It is especially ideal for travelling anywhere in Cornwall if you need to rely on public transport, either bus or train.

We came to meet up with family at the Lost Gardens of Heligan, just for the day, which were wonderful. We did not visit the beach or any other facility. We returned to our holiday destination in North Devon the same day.

St Austell is a great base to explore Cornwall.
St Austell is a great base to explore Cornwall. The town isn't fantastic, but it's 5 minutes from the Eden Project, also 5 minutes to Charlestown , an historic and interesting harbour, Mevagissey is very near, and it's near to several beaches.

St Austell itself is a busy industrial town but it is a good base for visiting many coastal fishing villages and nearby attractions such as Eden & Lost Gardens of Heligan. The interesting harbour village of Charlestown is a must see and Mevagissey is only 4 miles away.

Many interesting places to visit.
Many interesting places to visit. Lovely coastline with quaint villages. Mevagissey, Fowey, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden project are must sees! I shopped in St Austell itself. A good variety of shops, in interesting streets and lanes.

We stayed in Mevagissey which is south of StAustel.
We stayed in Mevagissey which is south of StAustel. St Austel is not the best place to visit in Cornwall and is a little run down but there are promises that efforts are being made to improve its image and facilities.
Good size bedrooms and nice bathrooms. Wi-fi worked well for me and I needed to work while there so that was very important. Nice location with 15 min walk into harbour where you could find a few nice restaurants to eat in. Would recommend The Longstore for dinner, The Cellar for drinks and The Boathouse for a nice lunch in the garden. Good size Tesco and Lidl 3 mins drive and Aldi and Asda close by too. We had a nice chinese delivered from Chinese Wok - Saint Austell one night as well.
Breakfast was exceptional - good variety on menu and well presented. The room was very comfortable and spacious. The location was convenient for walking into the town centre and the hotel made a good base for visiting attractions such as Charlestown, Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan as well as resorts of Mevagissy and the Padstow area. Our hosts were friendly, helpful and knowlegeable about the area
Luxurious, I love white table cloths, and quality cutlery, the waiting staff were faultless, the breakfast was excellent, really good choice of cold and hot buffet, freshly cooked and replenished really quick, the Dinner was absolutely first class, Everywhere spotlessly clean, the pools are really nice as is the Spa, you can have a wonderful holiday at The Carlyon Bay Hotel and Spa.
We had a great stay as a last night of our active vacation. Very big room with balcony, plenty of space, also in the bathroom. Comfy beds, good shower. Friendly, helpful staff. Really nice spa and pool area, robes and towels provided, we spend a lot of time there. Overall a really good stay in a pleasant hotel complex. Would definitely come again and recommend.
The food is exceptional
The manager is friendly and goes out of his way to help.
The room and bathroom were both bigger than most hotel rooms.
The curtains ( my pet hate). Actually closed properly and were blackout
They had a really good menu for evening meals in the pub/restaurant which are just downstairs so no messing about with walking out in the cold
We enjoyed our stay very much. the night we checked in there was even a live jazz performance at the pub which was perfect. the room is not very big but functional and they give you everything you need, very clean and recently renovated from what I could tell. bed was comfy (my partner usually has trouble with hotel pillows but slept well here).
We loved the hotel for its good breakfast, simple but effective dinner options, and a lovely set of staff. In-house parking is near and very convenient. Hassle free check-in and check-out facilities. Strategically located to access key locations around Cornwall within a 30-50 min drive.
Good Town centre location, Car park very close by (Pay) Comfortable and clean. Close Wetherspoons pub, the only other pub worth visiting is the Western (West Hill) close to an ancient bridge. 5 minute walk to railway station. Ideal for those using public transport.
The scenery where the hotel is located is absolutely beautiful.
We stayed there for 2 nights and had breakfast included which had a range of cereals, juice and English breakfast.
The staff were very nice and always checked if we needed anything.
Exceptional hotel and restaurant. Very clean and tidy. Rooms were large, well decorated and clean. Evening meal was fabulous. Great menu with great chefs and staff. Would recommend. Good value for Monday. Will definitely stay again.
Superb hotel, rooms were a good size very nicely decorated with attention to detail and good facilities. The hospitality was wonderful and the breakfast exceptional! Will definitely come again and would highly recommend.
